The Results: Mini Challenge #5
And the winner is..... a tie! Congratulations to both Felipe Lizcano and Noor Majid for winning Mini Challenge #5. The winners used Mental Canvas in two uniquely different ways: one is a detailed depiction of a space, while the other uses a sequence of views to tell a story about a place. See both of their scenes below:
The judges were impressed with Felipe Lizcano's use of texture and shadow to create this beautiful spatial drawing. It's a wonderfully immersive experience of the space.
Noor Majid takes us on a journey of Architectural History in Dubai. The Judges appreciated her unique approach: merging 2D & 3D to tell a story in a new way.
The Judges
This Mini Challenge was Judged by two exceptionally talented architects who both bring a thoughtful approach to visual communication. Thank you to Vaughan and Jerome for your insight and expertise in judging this week's challenge!
Jerome Tryon
Jerome is a highly accomplished Architectural designer and illustrator whose work has been featured in Domus, Casabella, Archinect, Wallpaper* among others. Jerome graduated with a M.Arch from Yale University and has won several awards and fellowships for his architectural drawings. Jerome uses Mental Canvas to "explore ways of seeing a drawing that go beyond typical architectural convention."
Vaughan Davies
Vaughan is a Principal Architect and Urban Designer at Perkins Eastman. Vaughan produces dynamic plans for urban waterfronts, retail/entertainment destinations, transit centers and mixed-use environments in cities large and small, nationwide and abroad. Vaughan has used Mental Canvas in his work to communicate spatial concepts to clients and colleagues.
